Our first week of teaching is complete.
We like our classes.
We like the school, but it has been a long week.
God is good.

Long Version:

Our first week of teaching is now complete. It is Saturday, and we are breathing the long-awaited air of a free afternoon. It has been a long week. We have been at school from 9:00am until 7:00pm pretty much everyday. That won’t always be our schedule, but as new teachers we have a few extra meetings and it takes a little longer to prep for classes. I (Eric) teach kids ranging in ages between seven and thirteen yrs old. My seven-year-olds are working on simple sentences/phrases such as “I am jumping.” or “He likes bananas.” I teach Science to my older students. Thursday we talked about protecting natural resources. All ages are more advanced than I expected. I hope to learn how to become a good language teacher. At this stage I feel that I have reached adequate status. So far, I am enjoying the challenge.

Despite being tired from a long week we are happy begin the process of establishing comfort within a regular routine. We visited a very large church last weekend and were invited to dinner by a friendly Canadian couple. Tomorrow we are going to visit another (smaller) church which also has an English service.

With voices dry and fatigued, we give thanks to Him and bless his name. “For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.”

– Eric
