I am currently taking a class at MCTC called “Type in Motion.” This is my first project. The assignment was to create a 30 second intro/ad about an upcoming Type in Motion conference/event. We are using Adobe After Effects as the tool of choice. Its becoming a pretty fun toy!

1920′s Party

These are some photos from a recent 1920′s-themed party at our home. The idea was born soon after Liz found a book published in the early 1920′s called 255 Parlor Games. We thought it would be fun to do something a little different for her birthday this year. So we found some appropriate attire from a few vintage clothing stores, put on some old jazz music, and had a lovely night of raucous 1920′s parlor games. The evening began with a wonderful meal made by Liz. It was a delicious pork roast and raspberry sauce with mashed potatoes and green beans. The evening ended with gigantic peanut butter pretzel brownies and apple crisp.

Ember

Let me preface by saying to my fellow designers that I may be 2 years behind on this one. (note: 2 human years = 10 web designer years). I just stumbled onto a site/app called Ember. It is a source for designers to have a community of shared inspiration.

Now, I know there have been sites like deviant and even flickr for that matter that you could argue serve the same purpose. But once you check it out, you’ll know the difference within 20 seconds. As I cruise through other similar sites I find it too random and disorganized. For instance I can search 100 examples of Texture Web Design. Bippity. Boppoty Boom. Inpired.

Anyway, I’m not going to give a full explanation of what it does and how it’s awesome. But if you like to cruise the web for design inspiration please check out Ember.
